Fundraising event for Nepal and inspired thoughts and artwork

The new exhibit, A Trek Across Nepal at Elisa Contemporary Art is inspired by Canadian artist Marie Danielle Leblanc's travels to that region.  The exhibit opened at the Riverdale Gallery on April 25, 2015, the day the first devastating earthquake hit that region.

In light of the recent earthquake in Nepal, a portion of all the gallery sales from this exhibit will be donated to relief efforts in Nepal through AmeriCares and Charity: Water.

Please join us for a special fundraising event on Saturday, May 16th from 4-6pm and meet Marie Danielle and hear her stories of this extraordinary place.

During her travels, Marie captured pictures and her thoughts of this breath-taking and spiritual region.  Here are a few:

I am in the Himalayan mountains there is no word strong enough to describe so much beauty…This morning, the view was stunning over the white cap snow mountains, pure joy to look at this scene…

Here in the mountains, I lost track of the date, day and even the month, first time in my life.

Her travels have inspired beautiful paintings that capture the essence of each

Our current exhibit at Elisa Contemporary Art, A Trek Across Nepal, is inspired by the two month journey of Canadian Artist, Marie Danielle Leblanc.  It opened on the day the devastating earthquake hit that region, April 25, 2015.

During her trip to the Himalayan Region, which is the Sanskrit term for “abode of the snow” (hima (snow) + ālaya (dwelling)), she was captivated and inspired by the beauty and the spirituality.   She captured some of her thoughts and reflections, including these:
I am in the Himalayan mountains there is no word strong enough to describe so much beauty…This morning, the view was stunning over the white cap snow mountains, pure joy to look at this scene…Here in the mountains, I lost track of the date, day and even the month, first time in my life.

These thoughts inspired her photos and her paintings as shown here:
